Talking Rain is a U.S. bottled water producer that produces various types of beverages and has a high reputation. The quick-change labeling system provided by Trine La-belling Systems allows Talking Rain to quickly respond to changing label patterns, meet company needs, and adapt to growing market share.

Talking Rain is located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The ground floor is rich in mineral water resources and the processed mineral water is pure and sweet. Talking Rain has been in the company for 15 years. They are constantly improving the packaging of this natural product, hoping to attract more consumers. Their packaging now consists of a patented Grip bottle and a compelling label.

The company’s president, Doug MacLean, said: “The packaging we use is our competitive advantage. Although we are fortunate to have such excellent mineral water, our real advantage lies in the packaging and labeling of our products. We are constantly developing some innovative ideas. New products, but people will not immediately recognize it, then the eye-catching product packaging is particularly important." Tony Tomlin is the company's production department deputy director, he said, face different flavors, different models of products, Rapid change is the biggest challenge in production. “We use PET bottles from 500 ml to 2 litres. Each beverage has a wide variety of flavors. From cranberry to lemon, there are a total of 30 to 35 different labels, sizes ranging from 2 inches by 6 inches to 3.5. Inches x 9 inches, which means a lot of change. Our challenge is to maintain high productivity when handling different bottle packaging."

Talking Rain recently purchased the second Trine QuickChange 4500 labeler. The significant advantage of the TrineQuick Change4500 labeler is that the control panels are all touch screens. Different programs are entered for different tags, and all configurations are preloaded. When changing the label, simply select the desired program based on the bottle to be labeled. This labeler can complete label changes within one minute.

It is very important to meet the needs of retailers

Talking Rain's Preston plant can produce more than 2 million cases a year and cooperate with other factories to produce 1 million cases of products for sale to the Midwest and East of the United States. Talking Rain's products are sold nationwide through western US distributors. Product sales to warehouse supermarkets require special labels and special handling methods to pack each flavored beverage selection in a box. Talking Rain is very proud of its operation skills. It is usually manual operation to pack different flavored drinks in a box, which is time-consuming and time-consuming. But the company created an automated "Rainbow" production line that automatically packs six flavored drinks in a box.

In addition to this bottled water production line, Talking Rain has many other products, all of which have innovative, bold packaging appearances and therefore survive.

Talking Rain's beverages have mouth-watering fruit flavors such as Kiwi, strawberry, peach, and nectarine. Its unique airwater beverage is filled with 100% oxygen, a full-flavored, non-carbonated beverage called Di-etl CE Botanicals. The product incorporates a new type of sucrose dressing called Splenda, which contains no calories, as well as fruity notes, vitamins, minerals, and herbal ingredients.

The Trine roller labeler can label containers that are between 1/8" and 6" in diameter. The TQC-4500 labeler can handle approximately 35 to 400 containers per minute. Because of the template design of the aircraft and the rapidly changing components, the changes can be made within 30 minutes using only one tool. In addition, it has a standard electronic registration system, which means that accurate, 360-degree graphic registration can be achieved regardless of machine speed.

Perfect reliability gains favor from customers

Since Talking Rain was founded in 1987, Trine label machines have been used. Mr. MacLean recalled: “The company’s founder, John Stevens, wanted to add different flavors to the water to sell as commodities, but at the time he did not have a factory, so we worked together to produce the bottles and label them. After watching the operation, we were very satisfied with this labelling machine.” “In the early 90s of the last century, we built a 5-acre factory in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains with a 55,000 square foot warehouse. Decided to use the equipment selected by the partner factory and the drum labeller, we purchased the earlier generation QC-4500 in 1992. We like the advantage of this machine to quickly change the settings, because changing a large machine's settings usually takes 2 hours to 4 hour."

Over time, Talk-ing Rain added a variety of containers and labels and decided to purchase a second machine to help them change the production lines that were actually idle. They chose another QC-4500. Tomlin commented: “This machine is highly efficient and reliable. We have an adjustment feeder for the new machine, which can be coordinated with the feed or discharge conveyor. So when the operator changes the production speed, it can Control the bottle pressure at the end of the line to eliminate bottle tilt or blockage."

Tomlin also said: “The Trine labeler is quite reliable. It has never experienced any failure this year, because even an hour of downtime will bring huge losses to production, and these labelers rarely have downtime, saving us There is a lot of cost loss.” However, no matter how good a device is or how well it is maintained, Tomlin thinks it may eventually fail. He said: “Maintaining and understanding the equipment is very important. Once the temperature scale on the QC-4500 warns, we can immediately inquire about the parts that need to be replaced.

MacLean thinks that Trine is a very easy-to-operate machine. "Their sales and service staff are very responsible. If a part of the machine fails, they will ship the new parts to us on the same day. Usually I care more about equipment. Manufacturers, we hope to find responsible and competent companies."
