The impact folding is by means of the vertical triangulation, the first fold is obtained along the longitudinal direction of the paper, and the movable folding knife extends out of the folding cylinder to punch the paper and pushes the paper between two continuously rotating folding rollers and folds the page. Posts are compacted and sent to a folding way for receiving the tumbler. A folding device that folds according to this principle is called an impact folding machine.

The impact folding machine has a simple structure and is suitable for high-speed printing, but the folding accuracy is slightly lower.
