Higher-scale furniture companies have higher profits

In 2013, Guangdong's above-scale furniture enterprises realized a total profit of 6.533 billion yuan, an increase of 14.54% over the same period of 2012. In the country, furniture enterprises above designated size achieved a total profit of 40.388 billion yuan, and Guangdong Province accounted for 16.18% of the total national profits. Compared with other traditional industries with lower profits, the furniture industry is a highly profitable industry.

Export growth exceeds domestic sales

Unlike the weak furniture exports in the first half of the year, the domestic and international economic situation was better in the second half of the year, and the total annual increase in furniture exports exceeded the increase in total domestic sales.

According to customs data, in 2013, the province's furniture export delivery value was 18.52 billion yuan, accounting for about one-third of the country's total export value, a net increase of 2.02 billion yuan compared with 2012's 16.5 billion yuan, a growth rate of 12.3%, compared to 2009. 10.38 billion yuan increased by 78.4%, and the five-year average growth rate was 15.6%.

In contrast, according to incomplete statistics, the total domestic sales of furniture in the province in 2013 was about 222 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%, an increase of 74.8% over the 127 billion yuan in 2009, and the five-year average growth rate was 15.0%. Although the total value of furniture exports is far less than domestic sales, its growth rate is more than domestic sales.

According to Wang Ke, in 2013, the export value of furniture exported to 12 major countries and regions in the province accounted for about 70% of the total export value. Among them, the country with the largest export volume is the United States, accounting for 30% of the province's furniture export delivery value, an increase of about 8%, laying the foundation for the steady growth of furniture exports in our province. Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and Singapore have increased their export value by more than 50%; the United Kingdom, Canada and France have a growth rate of around 13.7%.

Furniture industry difficulties still exist

Zhu Changling, chairman of the China Furniture Association, said at the meeting that although China's furniture industry is moving forward in the process of transformation and upgrading, the difficulties faced by the industry still exist. The rising costs of raw materials, human resources, logistics costs and other factors further weaken the furniture. The low-cost advantage of the industry in the global market; the rapid development of the furniture industry in Southeast Asia has a certain impact on China's furniture exports; trade barriers in developed countries are still continuing, and companies squeezed in the international market have turned to the domestic market, accelerating the domestic market.
